Visible Music Week

For every musician, the very best week of every year is the one where music is being created!

Why do I love Visible Music Week?

One evening after performing on tour with my band Skillet, I met a guy who had played in the opening band that night and we talked about church and music. He was talented and in a Christian worship band and I wanted to talk to him about his ministry. I asked him what church he was worshipping with and who the pastor was. As he sat there with his girlfriend on his lap, he said he led worship at this local church but did not know the pastor’s name. Surprised by his answer and limited ministry vision, I felt a strong urging to make a place where musicians can be called and trained to be leaders in the church and music industry.

I resolved to start a college that would train these young Christians in spiritual, professional, and academic excellence…and Visible Music College was born in 2000. I love working with creative Christians, including my time with the startup of Skillet.

You see, music is important.

Visible Music Week began in the summer of 2001. We get to bring this wonderful Visible Music College experience to young people and church musicians anywhere, introducing students to a deep devotional life, music theory, bands, recording, and a live performance in a fast, one week camp format. It is amazing when you give them access and attention for a specific time and place like we do for the week!

Our Visible Music Week students, over 1,000 in total reached over the years…with multiple churches in 15 states and countries. Over 50% of students come back the next year and come be a part of the college in some way. For musicians, Visible Music Week is the very best week of every year!
